Stephen Hawking: A world government is the only way to save mankind
Stephen Hawking says that the rise of technology could destroy us, and to prevent that, it needs to be controlled. He also said that the only thing that can save mankind is world government. We need to find a way to establish threats to us quickly before they are able to escalate.
"Technology has advanced at such a pace that this aggression may destroy us all by nuclear or biological war. We need to control this inherited instinct by our logic and reason," he said.
He added that in order to address this, some sort of world government might be perfect for the job. Even though at the same time it could also cause new problems all by itself and in the end become a tyranny.
Even though it all might sound like a rather negative look at the world, he said that he's still an optimist and mankind will be able to meet all the challenges thrown to us.
Stephen Hawking is a world-renowned physicist, and he's also director of research at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at Cambridge University.
