President of Iceland doesn't like pineapple on pizza
There are problems in Iceland. About Pizza. The president of Iceland, Gudni Th. Johannesson, said that if he could, he would ban pineapple toppings on pizza.
However, the news is actually a good one, from different perspectives. Independent of what many news outlets want to make it out to be.
It's true that this is what the president of Iceland said. However, the main thing you should be picking up from it is the other thing he said. And what is said is this - "I would not want to hold this position if I could pass laws forbidding that which I don't like. I would not want to live in such a country."
So he doesn't like pineapple pizza toppings, but at the same time he is happy that he doesn't have the power the forbid it. Imagine if Trump wouldn't like the topping and what he would say. Or better yet, don't.
As far as toppings go, most Italians agree with Gudni Th. Johannesson. In Italy, the birthplace of pizza, pizza with pineapple topping isn't considered a pizza because pizza is meant to be a salty dish, and in salty dish there shouldn't be fruit. And in general, pizza is not supposed to have crazy toppings.
